Cherry Blossom Festival

Who We Are

The National Mall is comprised of 14 individual National Park Service units, many of which are classified as National Monuments or Memorials.  Combined, these sites welcome over 36 million visitors each year to learn about and reflect on key moments in American history. Sharing stories of American presidents and influential leaders, honoring our country’s veterans, and reflecting on the toll of war and conflict, the monuments and memorials on the National Mall are opportunities to create new understandings, build connections, and make lasting memories.

What We Do

During the annual blooming of the National Mall's cherry trees each spring, the park hosts the National Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the National Mall's busiest and most popular seasons. Thousands of visitors come to Washington, D.C. each year to experience the spectacular sight of the Tidal Basin, Washington Monument grounds, and entire city turning pink in this incredible springtime celebration.

To support this grand tradition, the National Park Service needs the help of volunteers to welcome these visitors to our nation's capital.
