The Trust for the National Mall is hosting an exhibit with National Mall and Memorial Parks at the Great American State Fair, June 25th - July 10th. National Mall Volunteers are invited to serve a shift at this booth helping to welcome and guide visitors to additional sites on the National Mall, as well as sharing the National Mall Gateway.
When: Shifts are available 10 AM - 1 PM and 4 PM - 7 PM, Thursday through Sunday for the remainder of the fair. If you are interested in serving a shift outside of these times, please let us know at volunteer@nationalmall.org.
What: The exhibit is entitled Our Monumental Moment and will focus on sharing the National Mall Gateway with visitors from across the nation and the world, welcoming and guiding visitors to additional sites on the National Mall, and encouraging visitors to learn about the National Mall, the Trust, and the National Park Service.
Security: All volunteers must fill out a credentialling link to be able to volunteer for this event: https://crds.wrstbnd.io/manifest/form/freedom250/gov-4e34c359c9f55bde53bf8ba. This is the same link that is shared as a "qualification" before you can sign up for a shift. Volunteers can pick up at their credential from the credential station at the corner of 7th and Madison NW, and then you may proceed to security checkpoints. Please allow for extra time at the beginning of your shift to pick up your credential.
Prohibited Items: Aerosols; ammunition; animals other than service / guide dogs; backpacks and bags exceeding size restrictions (18" x 13" x 7"); balloons; bicycles; chairs / folding chairs; coolers; drones and other unmanned aircraft; explosives; firearms; flammable liquids; flipper zero devices; glass, thermal, or metal containers (including water bottles); inflatables; laptops; laser pointers; mace / pepper spray; noise makers; packages; pineapple wi-fi devices; pointed umbrellas; routers; range finders; raspberry-pi enabled devices; recreational motorized mobility devices; selfie sticks; signs exceeding size restrictions (20' x 3' x 1/4"); sports balls; supports for signs and placards; toy guns; weapons of any kind; structures; any other items determined to be potential safety hazards.
Arrival: Credentialed volunteers (after picking up your credential from the credential station at the corner of 7th and Madison), should enter at 12th and Jefferson Dr NW, and at 12th and Madison Dr NW. Additional entrances, for awareness include: 7th & Madison Drive NW, 7th & Jefferson Drive NW, 12th & Madison Drive NW, 12th & Jefferson Drive NW. The exhibit space is within the Federal Pavilion, marked 6 on the above map. The booth is just north of the Smithsonian Carousel, and has a "Trust for the National Mall" banner.
